James Halliday – Sourced from 48yo vines on the 2.2ha Block 2 on the Hay Shed Hill property in Wilyabrup. Matured 18 months in French oak barriques. The nose presents a classical combination of black pepper, plum, raspberry, cassis and mulberry, backed by spiced oak. The palate follows suit and is further ameliorated by the presence of finely grippy tannins which caress the fruit through the lingering finish.

James Suckling – "Aromas of pitted cherries, grilled herbs, overturned earth and whole nutmeg. Medium- to full-bodied with structured, sturdy tannins. Fresh acidity lifts up the savoury fruit and sweet spice. Very good intensity and depth here. A bit of chew at the finish. Best after 2023." - James Suckling

James Halliday – "Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. Enter its world. There's grandness to this red that is apparent from the first sip. It has both intensity and breadth, but then it also has volume and length. Drinking it is like diving into the ocean. It tastes of cassis, dark chocolate, peppermint, violets and lightly browned toast. Tannin rolls towards the finish from a long way out; it crashes through the finish in sets. You can drink it now; there's so much action to be tucked into. But wow this has a future." - Campbell Mattinson (Halliday Wine Companion)

James Halliday – 70% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, the remainder cabernet franc, petit verdot and malbec, 18 months in French barriques (60% new). Bright, clear colour; a remarkably elegant, juicy red and black berry fruit-filled wine, neither oak or tannins seeking to interfere with the fruit. One of those rare wines to be drunk now or in 20+ years. Rating 96” Halliday Wine Companion 2017

The Wine Front – Pungent start. Steaming pineapple tarte Tatin. Appetising. More sweet pastry, some coconut nuance, lavender, almond nougat, wood spice. It’s full-on with power, energetic, pushing with a hit of ripe flavour and a whack of grapefruity acidity. I want to say it’s meaty with crushed bitter sage finish. Flavours linger in the back palate with a big lick of lime and salt. It has great intensity that needs time to settle.

James Halliday – From the earliest plantings (in 1987) of the estate. It begins piling on points with the bright, clear colour, and doesn’t stop with the bouquet of blackcurrant, bay leaf and airy spices, then flowing on in elegant, medium-bodied mode to a perfectly balanced and mouth-watering finish. Something quite special in its Margaret River context. James Halliday, The Australian 2023
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – 2021 was a really challenging season for grape growing in Margaret River, in large part due to two cyclone weather events that pushed precipitation down the west coast of Australia. With significant rainfall in February and March, viticulturists were put under major strain in terms of managing the effects of rain in the vineyards. The 2021 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is light-framed and pretty, loaded with violets and raspberries, the tannins defined by a raw cocoa edge. This is an earlier-drinking proposition than many of the wines in the lineup. It is actually a remarkable wine in the context of the season. Pretty! This is charming and lighter than its older siblings—the oak regime was tailored to suit the year. Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate 2023

The Wine Front – Apples to start in various forms, fresh, desiccated, and baked, along with notes of sweet pastry, baked crumble, ginger biscuits, cloves, nutmeg and a bit of toffee. It’s full in flavour with chewy pineapple bits, a minty aftertaste and cedar spice. It’s built with solid blocks of acidity upfront and creaminess in the back. Slate-like ‘mineral’ feel in the middle. Very flavoursome Chardonnay it is.
or $74.40 in any mix of 12 bottles.
James Halliday – One of my go-to chenins because it delivers on so many levels, especially deliciousness. A slightly richer rendition this vintage with quince and all manner of stone fruits, luscious, refreshing and lively thanks to its acidity, but this is textbook texture. There’s also a saltiness, in a good way, like preserved lemons and sea spray with pear skin-like phenolics, plus some spicy ginger powder and even pepper. Mouth-watering all the way through.

James Halliday – ”Elegance takes the pulpit from the word go, and doesn't relinquish it. The fruit aromas are grapefruit, nectarine and white peach, braced by zesty acidity that drives the wine into the longest finish I've encountered for some time. Oak is merely a vehicle.” – Halliday Wine Companion

James Halliday – "There's such a distinct Voyager Estate character to this wine, largely because the fruit comes off the estate vineyard. It's heady with tobacco leaf, nori, dried herbs, mulberries and cassis. It's savoury and supple and the tannins feel mellow and shapely, there's depth, complexity and length. It's captivating now but will reward the patient more so. "- Jane Faulkner
