James Suckling – "Very complex nose of red fruits, candied orange, baking spice, wild herbs and smoke. Equally complex and refined on the tense and beautifully structured palate, perfectly filled out by the fine tannins. Long, filigree and stony finish. From a site with very shallow soil directly over a limestone cliff. From biodynamically grown grapes. 100% whole cluster, wild fermented, then 18 months in small oak. Unfiltered and unfined. Drinkable now, but best from 2024." -Stuart Piggot

The Wine Front – Crushed blue and purple fruit, plenty of spice, almost an incense perfume, also quite meaty. It’s meaty and sappy, juicy blue and red fruit, a tickle of Co2 spritz here too, kind of glassy ‘mineral’ acidity and feel, light graphite tannin, and a sappy/meaty/juicy finish of solid length. It’s quite the little thing. Frisky! - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
James Halliday – "A blend of grenache/gamay/cabernet franc. Fermented with 100% whole bunches and matured in older French puncheons. A light bright crimson. Lively with red fruits, pomegranate and dried herbs. Light- to medium-bodied with silky smooth tannins, there's also a juicy succulence to the mid-palate, making it ideal for chilling slightly. Very nicely put together and well priced to boot." - Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)
James Halliday – “80/20% chardonnay/pinot noir. Charmat method, with the NV wine sitting on full lees in tank. 6g/L dosage. A pale, bright green gold. Excellent bang for your buck here. Citrus, honey, some red fruits and just enough freshly baked biscuits to make it interesting. The palate is just dry enough, finishing clean and crisp.” Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion 2022

Wine Enthusiast – Outer quote mark Floral aromas of rose and violet align with Morello cherry and aromatic herb on this fragrant red. Precise and savory, the palate is still youthfully tense, delivering red cherry, pomegranate and licorice alongside tightly wound, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Give it time to fully develop. (KO) Inner quote mark (9/2022)
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – Outer quote mark The Albino Rocca 2019 Barbaresco Ronchi is concise and tight with precise aromas of blackcurrant, aniseed, crushed stone and blue flower. Ronchi fruit often shows this more angular and linear quality, and these traits come through with special sharpness in this vintage. Additionally, there is an earthy, crushed limestone quality that also seems specific to this expression. The tannins are hard and firm, setting this wine up for a longer drinking window. Production is 8,200 bottles. (ML) 94+ Inner quote mark (6/2022

Decanter – “Half the blend is from the oldest Semillon vineyard in California with the Sauvignon Blanc from Oak Knoll. Co-fermented in 25% new French oak, aged statically on lees for 10 months then kept in bottle for three years before release. Nose of candied lemon and beeswax with a layer of woodsmoke and spice. The palate is fleshy and textured with a hint of honey, balanced by fresh acidity.” - Michelle Cherutti-Kowal MW, Decanter

James Suckling – "A beautiful nose of sliced strawberries, crushed cherries, violets, grated nutmeg and a hint of white pepper. Some hibiscus, too. Supremely vibrant and perfumed with fine tannins that run the length of the medium-bodied palate. Textural. Ground spice and fresh fruit are intertwined, providing wonderful depth and complexity. So long as well. Seamless balance. Superb. Sustainable. Drink or hold." - 98 Points James Suckling - Wine of the Year, Top 100 NZ Wines for 2022
Huon Hooke – "Concentrated, complex pinot noir with cassis, blackberry, dark cherry, violet, wood smoke and savoury/dried herb flavours. Accessible now but with a proven history of ageing gracefully. Elegant wine with impressive power." 98 Points - (Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review)
