James Halliday – JAMES HALLIDAY - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION A flavoursome sparking style of bold, deep crimson hue. Lovely pink pepper and pomegranate complexity is underlined by candied dosage, jostling with zesty grapefruit tang. It's unashamedly full and colourful, yet holds its tannin texture comfortably.

James Halliday – A chardonnay-led blend of the holy triumvirate confers a crunchy acid tow to a melange of orchard fruits flecked by toasty complexity and crystalline citrus. The dosage of 7g/l is just right. 13 months on lees, too, finds synchronicity with the acidity, juicy and energetic, yet far from shrill. The harvesting window, also, plays to the same beat. This is very good sparkling wine that does not cave in to the trend of picking the fruit too early in the name of pH paranoia and acid retention. Published 01 June 2018 Ned Goodwin

James Suckling – A fine mineral layer on top of the subtle sourdough yeastiness, lemon zest and green apples. Fruity and delineated on the palate with generous, creamy beads and a flavorful finish. Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – The NV Brut Premiere Cuvee is exceptionally polished and refined from the very first taste. Lemon, grapefruit, green pears and flowers are some of the many notes that are woven together in this classy, totally polished wine. The two-plus years of bottle age post-disgorgement are a great example of how first-class NV Champagnes can develop beautifully in bottle, something I have seen time and again with Bruno Paillard’s wines. Hints of hazelnut, almond, crushed rocks and pastry add elements of complexity, yet the wine retains its classic sense of energy and vibrancy.

World Wine – Light, bright orange. Redcurrant, orange zest, jasmine and a hint of dusty minerals on the seductively perfumed nose. Juicy, vibrant and taut, offering powerful, spice- and mineral-accented flavours of red berries and candied orange peel. Offering up aromas of sweet orchard fruit and crisp white peach mingled with notions of white flowers, praline and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, pillowy and charming, with a fleshy core of fruit and a racy, chalky spine. Wine Spectator – Kumquat, melon and anise notes are layered with toast, smoke and golden raisin flavors in this firm, minerally Champagne, complemented by a fine, creamy mousse.

Wine Enthusiast – With some bottle age, this nonvintage wine is beautifully integrated. Crispness accompanies a rounder, riper character, with green plum and lemon flavors cut by sliced apple and acidity. The blend brings together the three Champagne grapes in equal measure and reflects that in its well-balanced aftertaste.

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – Straw yellow and with a golden hue in color, the Pol Roger NV Réserve Brut displays a brilliant, perfectly ripe but also fresh, highly elegant and refined fruit aroma on the nose; think of cooked pip fruits like pears and apples, but also quince-confiture and yellow stone fruits, such as apricots and peaches intermixed with vanilla, brioche (pain aux raisins), some nutty flavors and also some white floral notes. On the palate, this medium-bodied Brut is as round (if not pretty sweet) and fruit-driven as it is delicate, pure and very elegant. The mousse is deliciously fine and leads this charming and perfectly balanced fizz to a long, aromatic, stunningly dry and slightly mineral, impressively long finish. This is extremely well done Champagne from equal parts of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay sourced in 30 different crus. This Réserve includes 25% of reserve wines and was dosed with nine grams per liter.
