About This Wine
For many years top producers from the Colli Orientali have crafted their Pinot Grigio in the ramato style, which is a Grigio with a pale, coppery pink colour derived from a hint of skin contact. Eden Road are a little newer to the party but better late than never. The colour is a beautiful pale rose and reminds us that Pinot Gris is a coloured grape variety. The fruit here is drawn from Brian Freeman’s Hilltops vineyard at Kingsvale and the wine spent four months on fine lees before bottling in September 2018. It’s one of Eden Road’s first ’17 releases and it’s a tighter, racier and more focused wine than the richer 2016. More Grigio than Gris if you like. Pinky hue, juicy pear, citrus and musk-like aromas and flavours and laser-guided freshness. A refreshing quaffer that’s got “punter” and “friendly” etched into each sip.
