Decanter – This is one of Romain Taupenot's oldest vineyards, planted in 1948. Mazoyères seems to have fared better in the hot conditions of 2017 than neighbouring Charmes-Chambertin, as this wine has more acidity and depth than its stablemate, with good tension and depth with layers of sappy, chalky, dark berry fruit.

Jancis Robinson – Super savoury and refreshing. Lovely sweet start and then great lively finish. Great appeal for its combination of depth and refreshment. Fine tannins on the end.

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – The Mazoyères Chambertin Grand Cru has a crisp blackberry and bilberry-scented nose, more reticent than the Charmes-Chambertin at the moment and yet it is undeniably extremely focused. There is a subtle marine influence here that adds a little intrigue, some 'je ne sais quoi'. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe black fruit struck through with a keen thread of acidity. There is a little more body and weight on the finish compared to the Charmes-Chambertin, a residue of cold stone and a little pepper on the aftertaste. You come away thinking...that is a very serious wine. Cellar it for 4-5 years and you should have an outstanding counterpart to the domaine's 2014 Charmes-Chambertin.

World Wine –

Stephen Tanzer – Medium red. Sexy, high-toned nose offers scents of black raspberry, crushed cherry, Rosé petal and smoked meat. Sappy red berry and Rosé petal flavours boast terrific intensity and energy without any undue weight. Finishes with outstanding rising length, the firm tannins outlasted by fruits and flowers. A lovely Charmes. This vineyard was partly replanted in 1998 but was originally planted at the same time as Taupenot's Mazoyères--and the Mazoyères of Taupenot's cousin Christophe Perrot-Minot (their mothers are sisters).

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – The 2014 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru has a pretty, quite floral bouquet with wilted Rosé petal infusing the brambly red berry fruit, nicely defined and more expressive than the Corton Rognet at the moment. The palate is succulent and fresh on the entry with a gentle grip in the mouth, quite saline and structured; it is more Mazoyères than Charmes in some ways, demonstrating impressive density and backbone on the finish. This is a sublime expression of the vineyard, a great wine with a long future ahead.

The Wine Front – A completely different expression as there is a bit less aromatic elegance but more complexity to the layered and discreetly earthy red berry fruit aromas that precede the equally stony and beautifully detailed middle weight flavors that offer excellent intensity but the primary structural difference between this and the Baudes is the longer finish. Lovely and harmonious with very ripe phenolics that should permit this to age very well. Outstanding. 92/2018+ Burghound

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – The 2010 Morey St. Denis Les Millandes is a big, broad-shouldered wine graced with tremendous depth in its fruit. Dark cherries, menthol, spices and new leather are some of the many notes that are woven into the fabric of this beautifully balanced wine. Firm tannins support the fruit all the way through to the virile, intense finish. This is a great showing. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030.
