About This Wine
Biodynamic rosé. After Mas de Libian’s Mourvèdre tour de force, La Calade, the Bout d’Zan rosé is this Domaine’s most limited release - a great shame as it is so damn delicious. It’s drawn from the Estate’s younger vines, again spread across a selection of rocky terroirs; one third each Grenache, Counoise and Syrah. Using the Provençal model, all three varieties are delicately pressed into tank after a short maceration, thereafter fermenting with natural yeast. This 2016 is probably the most delicately coloured example of this wine we have seen — partridge eye I think we used to call it! Super bright, lifted red jubey aromatics positively leap from the glass, leading to a vibrant, tangy palate with small red fruits. Again that jubey freshness, a savoury lick of garrigue herbs and a crisp tangy finish. There’s only one thing missing at this point—charcuterie! Previous buyers will not hesitate.
