James Suckling – “Eye-poppingly fresh nose of ferns and savory notes with underlying, lemony fruit. Very tightly wound and energetic, this is a radically racy dry riesling for Austria. Very long, whiplash finish that will either turn you off or drive you wild, like us. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.” Stuart Pigott, jamessuckling.com
James Suckling – Very striking nose of mango chutney, burnt sage and cooked lentils. The hint of leesy funk blows off quickly. This wine is all about textural and chalky complexity and not at all about fruit. Tons of structure, but the creamy candied-citrus character is very nicely wrapped around this. Very serious, long finish.
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – Whole-cluster pressed and fermented in 300-liter oak barrels, the 2020 Grüner Veltliner Ried Lamm 1ÖTW shows an attractive reduction with floral, wax and ripe and intense fruit and tea aromas. Smoky or toasty on the palate, with fumé aromas, this is an elegant, refined and persistently salty Veltliner with fine grip and a long, complex finish. This is one of the most Burgundian Veltliners from the Danube.
