Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – It wants to show the character of Albillo Real in the village of San Martín de Valdeiglesias, where the old organically farmed vines from three different plots are located. The soils are granite-based. The three different vineyards were fermented separately with different maceration times, one of them with the full clusters. It then aged in used oak barrels for some nine months. One-third of the wine had contact with the skins, but today the nose was more reductive in a flinty, struck match way, with some lees. The palate revealed very good balance, with very fine tannins. Winemaker Marc Isart told me they are finally getting to understand Albillo, which behaves better in warmer years. I like the seriousness of this Albillo very much.

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – "“The 2020 Arroyo del Tórtolas is from a plot they consider wilder than the one for the single-vineyard bottlings. It’s a north-facing slope, and the grapes ripen slowly. In 2020, this fermented with 80% full clusters and had over six weeks of maceration, then matured in three 500-liter barrels. The wine finished at a moderate 14% alcohol, with a pale color and a delicate nose, floral and spicy, with hints of rose hip and hibiscus. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and integrated acidity.” - Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate"

World Wine – The 2012 Arroyo del Tórtolas is one of their single-vineyard reds, in this case it's a north facing-slope of 1.25 hectares, planted with 2,200 plants per hectare that are 65 years old. The soil is quite thin and poor, rich in granite. Fermentation is carried out in oak tinas (vats), with stems, but on a higher or lower proportion depending on the vintage, and foot trodden. Malolactic fermentation is in used barriques of different sizes (from 225 to 600 liters) made of French oak where the wine ages for one year. This is the plot of vines that gets more complete ripeness, the nose is very sharp and focused, with notes of good ripeness, some pine cone traces, red berries, flowers and dry herbs. The palate is really supple, straight, vertical, with very good acidity (this is harvested earlier than other plots, as the grapes ripen earlier which somehow provides for better acidity) with fine, velvety and elegant tannins. This is a great expression of Garnacha and, even though it's not cheap, it still represents good value. Bravo! 94 points, Luis Gutierrez, eRobertParker.com #215
