The Wine Front – Bulls-eye. Fruit, oak, tannin and licks of savoury smoky complexity. Will suit all comers. Blackberries, graphite and cloves. Velvety texture. Very fairly priced. Ripper drinking.
World Wine – If shirazes tasted as good as this then I’d drink a lot more shiraz, said my wife after this trumped a bracket of several more expensive shirazes in a recent tasting. Made by Mornington peninsula winemaker Geraldine McFaul from fruit grown in the cool Pyrenees region of Victoria, it is a wine of remarkable quality for the price; terrific fruit, quality oak and great structure with just a hint of minerally tannins. Beautifully balanced and structured. I could drink quite a lot of this. Winsor Dobbin
About This Wine
This wine originated in the Pyrenees, a region that boasts warm, sunny days and cool nights, ideal conditions for encouraging the generous flavours in shiraz. It has intense aromas of ripe plums and liquorice and a rich, spicy palate balanced by even, firm tannins. The finish is long and savoury - a shiraz with structure!
