James Halliday – Deeper colour than the basic Muscat with the first signs of viscosity when pouring, but still fresh; the strong raisin fruit is tempered by the rancio that has started to develop, and also by the lifted spicy notes on both bouquet and palate, the finish long and potent, yet exhilaratingly dry.
World Wine – Aged for an average of 11-19 years in a solera that dates back to the ’50s, Campbell’s Classic Rutherglen Muscat (500ml) has raisin, orange rind and nutty rancio aromas. It’s silky smooth, rich and vibrant in equal measure and with length to burn. Ben Thomas
