The Wine Front – Liquid cherry jam spiked with cinnamon, cumin spice. Spot on. Cool and refreshing red wine of perky acidity, amaro sweet-sour, pomegranate crunch to close. It’s vibrant, vital, light on, so smashable. It’s not cerebral, nor is it trying to be, it invites you in instead and says ‘lay on the couch with your shoes on’. Welcoming freshness in red wine. Hello summer.
James Halliday – There's a certain charm with Gerhard Pittnauer's St Laurent wines and he produces several off different sites, this planted on the Altenberg vineyard's slopes, opposite the Rosénberg. The fruit is just lovely, bound by savouriness though and an amazing aroma profile bordering on Middle Eastern and Asian spices. Sweet round tannins, textural, alluring, full-bodied, balanced with a minerally acid threat driving this to a persistent finish.
The Wine Front – "Cherry juice, peat and pencils, dried herbs and spice. It's medium-bodied, sour dark cherries with an earthy fungal quality, bright sappy acidity, distinct 'mineral' character here to both acidity and tannin, all silty and rich, with a glassy and juicy finish of excellent length. It's kind of an 'off-road' wine, but really interesting and good to drink." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
