World Wine – McLaren Vale blend of 48% grenache, 45% shiraz, 7% sagrantino. It feels fluid. It’s exquisitely well structured. It shows herbs and fruits and balance in good measure, and it floats out through the finish as if nothing in the world could stop it. It’s not heavy but it’s not light; it’s berried and ripe but it’s not sweet. In short, Mitolo nailed this one.
About This Wine
Intense garnet red in colour, with a bouquet of bramble herbs with hints of cracked black pepper underpinned with earthy, dark fruit characters of Satsuma plum, black cherry and liquorice.
Grenache plays a leading role and provides dark cherry lift and a seductive, almost slippery mid palate. Shiraz provides some weight to the juicy mouthfeel as well as dark fruits and earthy olive tapenade characters. And finally Sagrantino, despite its low proportion, adds beautiful dry earth, cigar box-like savoury lift with those signature tannins giving a drying, snappy finish.
