James Suckling – “Enticing and subtle nose of Yamanashi white peach, wild berries and herbs. Ripe, but also seriously concentrated and elegant, this has deep minerality at the very long and focused finish. This is built for the long term, but is already really delicious. Drink or hold.”- Stuart Pigott, jamessuckling.com
James Suckling – “Very enticing nose of white peach and fresh mint with a hint of white flowers. At once succulent and delicate, this is a joyful Wachau riesling that has such wonderful harmony it should appeal to anyone looking for great dry white wine. Super-elegant and very long finish with delicate wet-stone minerality. Drink or hold.”- Stuart Pigott, jamessuckling.com
James Suckling – Super-concentrated and super-elegant, this is as refined as dry riesling can be. And after you’ve taken in the ravishing beauty of the peachy fruit, the lime freshness and what they do for each other, comes a tidal wave of crushed-rock minerality that sweeps you away. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold. James Suckling.com 2022
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – The 2021 Dürnsteiner Riesling Ried Kellerberg opens with a deep, intense and coolish nose with notes of wet black rocks, Timut pepper berries, black tea leaves and herbs intertwining with concentrated and ripe white-stone and passion fruit aromas. On the palate, this is a rich and concentrated, tightly woven and dense, round and elegant Kellerberg that stopped fermenting at the end of January with seven grams per liter of residual sugar. Still a tiny bit too much for me, but in the long term, this is a terrific Kellerberg. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2022. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – “The 2021 Ried Singerriedel Riesling Smaragd displays dense, spicy and concentrated ripe fruit with savory rocky notes. Playful and elegant on the palate, this has ripe, concentrated and aromatic fruit with persistent length, not only structurally but also fruit-wise. This is an excellent, age-worthy Riesling from one of the DAC’s most famous vineyards. Tasted at Schloss Dürnstein, Wachau.” - Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – From a steep cru on gneiss and marble in the cooler Spitzer Graben area of the Wachau, the 2021 Ried Bruck Spitz Riesling Federspiel opens with a deep, pure and intense, very elegant and complex nose with ripe Riesling aromas intermingled with enormously stony notes. On the palate, this is a spectacular, complex and refined Riesling with great intensity and terroir expression. The term Federspiel downsizes this Riesling a bit, although it is an elegant, medium to full-bodied wine that has the complexity, finesse and intensity of a grand cru. Definitely a wine to have from this superb vintage. The aftertaste is spectacular in its mineral tension and salinity. That’s Riesling at its best! 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap closure. Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate
