About This Wine
This 2017 Riesling is drawn from both the Estate vineyard – at an altitude of 610 metres above sea level on Murrumbateman’s ancient decomposed granite soils – and from the Long Rail Gully vineyard located just north of the village at an altitude of 650 metres. Eden Road have been working with Riesling from this latter vineyard since 2008. The vines here are on the same soil and were planted with an old German clone some 25 years ago. Both vineyards were handpicked and whole bunch pressed, and (mostly) fermented in stainless steel. Four to five months on fine lees has added texture to balance the wine’s racy lime and sherbet freshness. The palate is crunchy and vibrant with citrus pith green apple notes as well as some tropical hints that suggest musk and lychee.
