The Plaisted's vineyard was planted in 1947 and is now farmed by the Hatwell family, with Matt Hatwell one of McLaren Vale's gun viticulturists. Aphelion had long admired the wines made from this site, and one vintage was all it took: the 2025 fruit was so good that The Plaisted's went straight into the Single Site program.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eVintage\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e2025 was a short and sharp vintage, the earliest Aphelion has seen, with all fruit picked within a month. A warmer than average winter brought the whole season forward, so the ripening period was similar in length to prior years, and lovely late ripening temperatures delivered wines of high concentration and intense colour.
