Castle Rock Estate Porongorup Riesling 2017
Named after a prominent nearby landmark, Castle Rock Estate is nestled on the eastern slopes of the Porongurup mountains. Angelo and Wendy Diletti first planted vineyards in 1983, releasing the first vintage of Riesling in 1986. In 2001 their son Robert returned as a winemaker to design and build the winery on the property. All the wines are now made on site by Robert.
The vineyard is situated 40km north east of Albany and 30km south east of Mount Barker, on a cool and elevated northerly aspect. This results in well ripened cool climate varieties producing intensely flavoured wines.

The Wine Front – Lemony tang! Floral notes, pure, whiffs of wet slate and struck flint. Palate is etched with fine acidity and cool citrus flow. It’s refreshing, edgy, lean and long, but has an approachability and drinkability that works so far in its favour. Great drinking.
James Halliday – An intriguing mix of flower/blossom, talc and spice on the bouquet, followed by a finely wrought palate of the highest quality citrus fruit and tingling acidity. Sopranos singing to each other in unison.
