Palacios Remondo 'La Montesa' Garnacha-Tempranillo 2015
Full of Mediterranean orchard fruit aromas including nectarines, pomegranates, and oranges, the palate contains vibrant and rich flavors of ripe red fruit, discrete spice, citrus peel and exotic wood. Meant to enjoy now or age up to 10 years, this consumer-friendly wine is Alvaro's tribute to Garnacha's return to its historic homeland. Perfect when enjoyed by the glass on its own, La Montesa's multi-faceted flavor profile will also pair well with any kind of cuisine.
Named after the hillside vineyard located on the northeastern slope of the Yerga mountains in eastern Rioja, La Montesa is a blend of the red grape varieties that grow organically on the Palacios Remondo estate. The wine is crimson in color with complementary aromas of ripe strawberries, fresh plums, toasted notes, and a hint of blood orange. On the palate, it is velvety and vibrant, with succulent flavors of soft minerals, chocolate-covered cherries, toffee, and white pepper.
James Suckling – A very cool wine. Made from almost all garnacha, it has a depth and intensity with a minerality and saltiness. Plenty of strawberries and flowers. Medium body. Vivid and focused. Lovely finish already. Made from organic grapes.
In a mixed or straight case: $44.64
