The Wine Front – Mornington Peninsula shiraz, usually co-fermented with a dash of viognier. I like pepper in my shiraz and Paringa Estate is always a good place to find it. It’s clearly evident in this release, both black pepper and white, though even in tandem the total remains at modest not-ridiculous levels. It’s otherwise berried, red and black, with a whisper of creamy oak. Acidity is both refreshing and slightly cranberried. All up it’s an excellent wine to drink, all squeaky-clean, polished and peppery as it is. Rated: 92 Points Tasted: June20 13.5% alc. $29 Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2025+

The bouquet of this wine shows spicy blackberry fruit along with the lifted floral viognier aromatics. The palate offers black fruits, black pepper and fine grained tannins. A medium bodied Shiraz with texture and power but a fineness that reflects its cool climate origin.
