About This Wine
The Frapin family has been established in France's southwest since 1270. Starting as a family of winegrowers, they soon became distillers and have continued this tradition for 20 generations. They moved to the Grande Champagne region and established their headquarters in the Fontpinot Castle at Segonzac. These days, the Frapin estate covers 300 hectares all in Grande Champagne, officially listed as Premier Grand Cru du Cognac. About 200 of those hectares are planted to Ugni Blanc in the estate's crumbly, chalky soils, much like the soils in Reims. This wonderful Cognac is 100% Grande Champagne, Premier Grand Cru, distilled over fine lees. Deep and complex without ever seeming cloying or adulterated, this Frapin is definitely one of the greatest values in Cognac.
