About This Wine
Rob Dougan is clear in stating that Las Flors, or "the flowers" in Occitan, is not a second wine of La Pèira. From the start of his tenure at La Pèira he noticed that despite the closeness of his vineyard sites, one produced a more elegant, perfumed and lithe wine while another made a more powerful and somber wine. Rather than blend the two together, he decided that the terroir called for two wines thus La Pèira and Las Flors were born. A blend of mainly Grenache and Syrah with smaller percentages of Mourvedre, Cinsault and Carignan, it is harvested by hand, destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Depending on the vintage, it is partially co-fermented with a gentle maceration then aged in 300 and 600L French oak barrels of which 20% are new.
