Viña Aquitania was established in 1984 by Bruno Prats (Cos d’Estournell) and Paul Pontallier (Château Margaux), two well known Bordeaux agronomists and oenologists, with their friend Felipe de Solminihac, one of Chile’s most recognised winemakers. In 2003, Ghislain de Montgolfier, owner of Champagne Bollinger, joined the group.
The partners believe strongly in the concept of terroir. Viña Aquitania’s vineyards are located at the foot of the Andes Mountains in an area characterised by rocky, well-drained soil. Roots grow deep and a unique micro climate allows good exposure to sunlight with warm days, cool nights and no rainfall during ripening or harvesting.
