Domaine François Chidaine Montlouis Les Grillonières 2023 is a beautifully expressive Chenin Blanc crafted by Alice Chidaine, daughter of the renowned François Chidaine. Produced from a small parcel of organically and biodynamically farmed vines rooted in clay-limestone and silex soils, the wine reflects both the Chidaine family's meticulous approach and Alice's emerging winemaking talent. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts and ageing in older demi-muids preserve purity while adding texture and complexity.
The 2023 vintage reveals enticing aromas of white peach, ripe pear, acacia blossom, honeyed citrus, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is silky and beautifully balanced, combining orchard fruit richness with vibrant acidity and flinty minerality. Layers of baked apple, citrus zest, and delicate saline notes unfold through a long, precise finish. While technically a dry to gently off-dry style, the wine's natural concentration and texture create a sense of generosity without sacrificing freshness.
