Wine Enthusiast – "This is just the second release of this varietal. It is a marvellous expression of Mourvèdre superimposed with the Frankland style. The earthy and slightly rustic tones are evident as they work into the grainy mediumbodied fruit. A distinctive iron filings ferrous character is part varietal and part regional. Super exciting development." - 95 points, Ray Jordan, Winepilot.com.

Mourvèdre was first planted on the Isolation Ridge Vineyard in 2005, making these vines the oldest in the region for this variety. The maturity of the vines - together with deepening understanding of the grape and the wine it wanted to be – this is the second release of this wine, and again it shows the somewhat elegant framework that isachieved from Isolation Ridge Vineyard. 0.8ha of vines resulting in 106 dozen produced (after some is selected for Isolation Ridge Vineyard Syrah).
The grapes were destemmed and shallow fermented in small, open pots. The wine was pressed reasonably quickly after primary ferment to keep the tannins in check, then matured in puncheons for 14 months. Fermentation and maturation is focused on letting the wine expressing the varietal earth tones and ferrous terroir yet highlights the elegance of isolation ridge vineyard. With vine age, the signature ferrous notes are clearly written.
