Aroma
Layered and complex with a bouquet of cashew nuts, straw, citrus, honey, sourdough and mocha oak.
Palate
The creamy viscosity of the yellow peach and honey flavours is balanced by savoury notes of toast and a satiating finish, like alpine water filtered through stone.
Maturation
Fermented in a mix of French oak puncheons (10% new with a large percentage of one and two year) together with some older barriques for a total maturation period of 10 months followed by time in tank after blending. Bottled: March 2023.
Vintage notes
The 2022 season was influenced by unsettled weather the previous spring resulting in smaller crops. Mild weather and slightly above average rainfall best describes the growing season but a very dry February ensured that fruit ripened evenly and the grapes were in great condition for harvest.
Region notes
The grapes for Stonier Chardonnay were selected from several Stonier long-term vineyards, from Merricks through to the higher elevation vineyards in Red Hill. With the long history of Stonier on the Mornington Peninsula, most of these vineyards are now in excess of 15 years old, with many more than 25 years old.

Mornington Peninsula Wines
South of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula grape growing region has a cool, maritime climate that is most known for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay production. Other varieties that have seen some success here include Pinot Gris and Tempranillo.
However, it does seem that Pinot Noir is their focus judging from the fact that The Mornington Peninsula International Pinot Noir Celebration is held once every two years. The event displays the region’s capabilities in making some of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir in front of local and international audiences.
