The Wine Front – There’s certain clarity about this wine, and it will satisfy your cravings if you seek crisp and fresh styles of Chardonnay. Almonds and cashews, fresh citrus, yoghurt note giving a lightly creamy texture. Fruit, however, is on the crunchy, green side, with firm apples and pears, sour grapefruit, a hint of white nectarine. All pinned by a salty finish, cool in flow. You can’t help but think of some textbook Chablis examples. And for the price, it’s a no-brainer.

"A very low yielding vintage has produced wines of tremendous intensity and varietal purity in the Yarra Valley. After handpicking the wine is whole bunch pressed to oak for wild fermentation before being left undisturbed in oak for 10 months. The aromas are a mix of honey and caramel with a limey sherbet and Granny Smith apple influence. The palate reveals a lemon and curry leaf character which is most engaging while the lively acidity carries it through to a long pleasing finish.
Mouth-wateringly creamy flavours of lemon curd and jasmine are cradled by lightly toasted oak. A beautifully fruity, textured and mouth-filling chardonnay, it’s masterfully constructed and incredibly more-ish. Teams up brilliantly with roast chicken, pork and ginger gyoza or hard goats cheese.

Yarra Valley Wine
The Yarra Valley wine region is the most important area of wine production in Victoria today, and with its proximity to Melbourne, also the most visited in the state.
Yarra Valley is split into the Upper Yarra and the valley floor. The Upper Yarra is cooler in climate due to its elevation and coupled with younger, fertile, red soils produces most of the region’s notable varietals: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The valley floor is warmer and has predominantly grey soils with pockets of granite and limestone.
Pinot noir has long been considered a notoriously difficult variety to grow. However, the cool climate and longer growing seasons of the Yarra Valley allow the fruit to develop full flavoured and ripe character.
Chardonnay in the past has long been associated with a deep oily, buttery style that experiences full malolactic fermentation and great amounts of oak. This style has since fallen out of favour and wine makers in the Yarra Valley have capitalized on this trend to produce leaner, acid driven Chardonnays that are closer in style to those from Burgundy.
