Founded in 1966 by Domenico Poggiali, Fèlsina was the Etruscan name for this viticultural terroir nearly 3,000 years ago. Together with Giuseppe Mazzocolin and Franco Bernabei, they made Fèlsina one of the great names in Tuscany. The estate is at the southern border of the Chianti Classico subzone of Castelnuovo Berardenga and boasts a variety of climates, landscapes, and terrain. The vineyards are characterised by their diverse soils and microclimates and, since 1983, have been planted from their own massal selection nursery. At Fèlsina, Sangiovese reigns supreme. Rancia, the estate’s single vineyard Riserva, is simply superb; ripe and racy fruit balancing spice, game, and mineral notes with layered, lingering flavours. Fontalloro is 100% Sangiovese from vineyards located just outside the Chianti Classico border and is renowned for its structure, concentration, intensity and depth. Both wines have an outstanding track record of cellaring for 20 plus years. In addition, Fèlsina also produce some of Italy’s best extra virgin oils.
