Description
A mild spring at the start of the growing season, lead into to a dry early summer providing ideal growing conditions. The challenge of several summer rainfall events later in the season was managed with great care by the viticultural team, where their attention to detail resulted in fruit that produced expressive, flavourful wines.
The 2021 Deep Woods Estate Rosé is produced solely from Margaret River fruit and made to sit alongside the very best wines from Deep Woods Estate. The aim was to make a contemporary style of rosé; nuanced and delicate, yet full-flavoured.
Tempranillo and Shiraz were sourced from vineyards in the Yallingup Hills and slow, carefully managed ferments allowed for a Rosé of great character and expression. The wine was also blended with a small portion of hand-picked, barrel-fermented Vermentino for texture and complexity.
Pale salmon pink in colour with intensely floral aromas, perfumed with vibrant ripe strawberries. On the palate, wild strawberries are matched by a smooth, creamy mouthfeel with a savoury edge. The wine builds through the mid-palate with vibrant acidity and a dry finish.

Margaret River Wine
In the southwest of Western Australia, the Margaret River wine region is unique in that it is the most maritime-influenced region in all of Australia. The cool Indian ocean breezes come in through the summer to keep the temperatures around the vines steady resulting in an unusually even accumulation of warmth in the growing season. It is also quite dry as interestingly less than 20% of the annual rainfall occurs as the grapes are growing. The region’s climatic factors have been compared to what Bordeaux would be like in a dry season. While the region’s total production is relatively small (3% of Australia’s total wine production), it is responsible for 20% of our premium wine market.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz as well as Bordeaux blends are all very popular red wine options in the region.
For whites, refreshing blends of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon as well as complex, age worthy Chardonnays are the specialties.
