Gaja Rossj-Bass 2023 is one of Italy's most celebrated Chardonnay-based wines, produced by the legendary Gaja family in the Langhe hills of Piedmont. Named after Angelo Gaja's daughter Rossana and the local term bass, meaning vineyard, Rossj-Bass has become a benchmark for modern Italian white wine, combining Burgundian inspiration with unmistakable Piedmontese character.
The 2023 vintage opens with expressive aromas of ripe peach, citrus blossom, lemon curd, pear, mango, and white flowers, complemented by subtle notes of acacia honey, hazelnut, and mineral freshness. On the palate, it is rich yet beautifully balanced, delivering layers of stone fruit, citrus, and tropical fruit supported by vibrant acidity and a creamy texture derived from careful lees ageing.
The wine combines generosity and precision, with notes of white peach, grapefruit, almond, and crushed stone unfolding through a long, energetic finish. Partial barrel fermentation and maturation add complexity and texture without overwhelming the purity of the fruit.
