Critic reviews

The Wine Front – Lots of tart fruit and herbal nuances, as per good Sangiovese varietal character, I think. Sour cranberries, briar rose, watermelon rind. Dusty texture, finishing dry with pink grapefruit and a hint of liquorice lift. Fruity and savoury notes. This will satisfy your rose craving swiftly.

Vintage Vigilant

We aim to have all wines above $30 be vintage specific. In the case the listed vintage is out of stock and you note you would like that particular vintage, we will inform you via email for approval to go ahead.

Seen it Cheaper?

We strive to offer the best prices on over 5000 wines. If you've seen this product cheaper elsewhere, please message our dedicated price match service line to see if we can do you a better deal.

About this Wine

STORY
The life of the party, the instigator of frivolity, the undying entertainer. A modern-day jester gathers friends around regularly to eat and drink well, and much like their medieval predecessors, reminds us that life shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

TASTING NOTE
Delicate floral aromatics, a silky palate with strawberry and raspberry at the core. A gentle thread of fine mineral acidity gives succulence, dancing with a flicker of dry spice to a crisp, mouthwatering finish.

WINEMAKING
Our Sangiovese is hand harvested on a cool morning, then transferred directly to the winery where the grapes are destemmed, crushed and pressed immediately off skins, to keep the colour to a minimum. The juice is cold settled for 1 week then racked off solids. Cool fermented down to 14˚C for up to two weeks until it is completely dry. Once ferment is complete, the wine is stabilised and filtered before bottling.

VINEYARD
Lopresti Lot 11 Vineyard - Flour Mill Road, Whites Valley, McLaren Vale.

Located in close proximity to the Gulf of St Vincent in the Whites Valley area of McLaren Vale between Willunga and Aldinga. The heavy clay here promotes strong growth in spring but dries out and cracks in summer, pulling back vine vigour as they approach veraison. The coastal location also allows sea breezes from the Gulf of St Vincent to mediate daytime heat during the critical ripening period.
