The Wine Front – Plenty of spice, vermouth and Campari sort of things, floral, maraschino cherries, brine. Juicy cherry and boysenberry, dusty spicy feel to tannin, a smattering of amaro herbs, some cranberry crunch to acidity, but keeps that ripe cherry thing going, and the finish is pretty long with it. Pumice stone tannin to close. Lovely stuff. Young, yet offers complexity, and no shortage of drinking appeal. - Gary Walsh, 29 September 2021
James Halliday – From a 1976-planted vineyard in Lyndoch at the southern end of the Barossa Valley. Wild ferment, 40% whole bunches and aged in French oak foudre & puncheons for 6 months. Pure plummy joy here with hints of souk-like spice, pressed flowers, amaro-esque herbs, gingerbread and cola. Spacious and airy in the mouth with an exotic spicy edge to the pure plummy fruit and a wicked chalky, savoury finish. - Dave Brookes, 3 August 2022

The palate is fresh and crisp with a layer of bright red fruits that draws the wine across the palate, makes you salivate and leaves you wanting more. The tannins are fine and elegant, and the acidity gives this wine a lot of precision on the palate.40% whole bunch was used to give this wine some crunch on the palate, and some spice and lift on the nose. The remainder of the fruit was gently destemmed out in the vineyard and fermented as whole berries to give a nice carbonic maceration juiciness to the wine. The wild ferment was foot stomped twice a day in old concrete fermenters for 10 days before gentle basket pressing.

Barossa Valley Wine
The Barossa Valley wine region has historically and currently still is one of Australia's most prestigious premium wine producing regions. Located just 60km north east of Adelaide city centre, the climate there is very hot and dry which is perfect for the big bold reds the area is famous for.
A straight Shiraz is what Barossa is most well known for, however Rhone blends, such as Shiraz Cabernet are also very popular. While much less prevalent, white wines (Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon) are planted on the higher altitude hillsides where the ocean breeze cools temperatures down to a level suitable for producing these varieties as well.
Some of Australia's earliest Shiraz plantings can be found here dating as far back as the 1850's. While not always a guarantee of quality, it might be worth seeking out and trying one of the region's "old vine shiraz" if you haven't yet.
