The Wine Front – Classic styling here. Red and black cherried fruit flavour but with a dark, woodsy edge. Fragrant herb and wood spice top notes. Good fruit and fragrance but taut, finessed, almost filigreed. Balanced on a pinhead stuff. The aromatics here in particular feel incredibly pure and yet, at the same time, the nose is not simple and nor is it suggestive of sweetness. The control is high and yet the wine feels real. Quality wine. Beautifully turned out.
James Halliday – A 50/50% mix of upper and lower Yarra estate and grower fruit. 30% whole bunches. A very bright crimson purple. Pretty and complex with aromas of red cherry skins and rhubarb together with some pink peppercorn spice and a light savoury edge. More approachable than the '23. As a young wine, the medium-bodied palate is spicy, silky and long. It'll probably age well but it's so good to drink now that there's no need to bother!

If you’re curious about what top-shelf Yarra Pinot Noir looks like without splashing $100, this is your ticket in. The 2024 Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir once again delivers the goods - elegant, expressive and downright delicious.
Mel Chester and the team work with fruit from across the region, with a big dose coming from the cooler, high-altitude Upper Yarra vineyards. The 2024 vintage brought a fast and furious harvest, with all the Pinot and Chardonnay picked in just a few weeks (rather than the usual six). That pace translated into wines with vivid fruit, bright acidity and brilliant natural balance.
Aromatically, this is pure Yarra charm - wild strawberry, cherry, a flick of spice and just a hint of stemmy crunch thanks to a portion of whole bunches. It glides across the palate with polished red fruits and a fine earthy tannin trail on the finish.
One of the country’s best value premium Pinot Noirs, made with the same precision and purpose as the highly decorated single vineyard wines - this is the delicious gateway into the world of Giant Steps.
