Description

40% Big Hill MV6, 40% Eocene Pinot Noir, 20% Old Cherry Orchard Pinot Noir. New oak
15%, no filtration. Picked on March 22 and processed on March 23, 3 x fermenters with 10%, 20% and 30% whole bunch. Baume 13.0, cold soak 8 days, 22 days on skins. Fermented in 100% stainless steel. Wild yeast.

An open and elegant bouquet of raspberry, mulberry, cranberry and cherry will lead to great aromatic complexity as the wine matures. Earthly forest floor and hints of toast add another layer of complexity. The palate is balanced, composed and collected. It’s purity and definition can take the taster aback. Fine, silky tannins display a praphite-like structure with integrated acid and purity, complimented by delicate red fruits of cherries and raspberries.

Mornington Peninsula Wines

South of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula grape growing region has a cool, maritime climate that is most known for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay production. Other varieties that have seen some success here include Pinot Gris and Tempranillo.

However, it does seem that Pinot Noir is their focus judging from the fact that The Mornington Peninsula International Pinot Noir Celebration is held once every two years. The event displays the region’s capabilities in making some of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir in front of local and international audiences.
