An intensely flavoured Shiraz brimming with red currants, plum and olive notes, this is a savoury and beautifully restrained Shiraz with the quality French oak merely supporting the cool-climate fruit. Approachable now with excellent depth and length, this is sure to develop further complexity over the coming years.

The newly released 2017 Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Shiraz was a standout performer at the 2019 Royal Melbourne Wine Awards where it was awarded three trophies including the prestigious Trevor Mast Trophy for Best Shiraz of Show. This wine was also awarded the trophy for 'Best Organic Wine' and 'Best WA Shiraz' rounding out an impressive trifecta for Frankland Estate.

Only very limited stocks of this wine are available and are sure to sell out quickly.

VINIFICATION
98.5% Shiraz and 1.5% Viognier. A combination of selective harvested and hand harvested fruit was fermented as whole berries in open-pot fermenters. A separate parcel (22% of the blend) was fermented as 100% whole bunches and blended post barrel maturation. Fermentation starts straight away and hand plunging takes place to keep the ferment even and as gentle as possible, minimising extraction. Temperatures typically do not exceed 26oC through the 10- to 15-day ferment. Some additional maturation on skins occurs until tannins are fully integrated and the wine comes into balance. This wine was aged for 15 months in 500-litre French oak puncheons
