Wine Enthusiast – Notes of ripe lemon have a honeyed, herbal lift, with a hint of candied lemon peel. The palate of this wine comes with concentration and a lemon freshness that radiates ripeness, brightness and intensity in equal measure. The finish is long, lemony, waxy and dry. Lovely now the wine is certain to evolve. Drink now–2030.

James Suckling – "An attractive Mosel Kabinett with expressive, stony slate character and effusive floral and lemon-zest aromas. Sleek body with beautifully integrated acidity and a long, very clean wet-stone finish. Drink or hold."
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – "The 2021 Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Kabinett is clear and fine yet still discreet in its aromas on the elegant and flinty/slatey nose. Sweet and round yet elegant and refined on the palate, this is a light but lush Badstube Kabinett with fine grip, charming texture and a crystalline and saline finish. 7.5% stated alcohol combined with 55.7 grams per liter of residual sugar."

James Halliday – Halliday Wine Companion I must admit, I have a soft spot for off-dry riesling. Disclaimer: I'm a Kiwi and a fan of German wines so this makes sense, but I've always enjoyed the Prima. Those fresh lime and crunchy apple notes are there, sluiced with soft spice and heady blossom notes, but I love the dance between sweetness and acid, the tension, and the tempering effect of the acidity on the perception of sweetness. It's about balance and the Prima gets it right, especially in the impressive 2021 vintage. Dave Brookes

The Wine Front – Wine Front: "It’s a delicious young Riesling. Lemon, lime and slate flavors rush straight and direct through the palate, aided though by a smidgen of textural softness. There’s almost a kaffir lime leaf character here. It’s hard to tell how this will age--it seems so up-and-about now--but as a young wine it tastes terrific."

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – "The 2021 Hallgarten Riesling trocken Alte Reben is pure and refined on the remarkably precise and slatey as well as ripe and elegant fruity nose. Medium to full-bodied and with great finesse and mineral purity, this is a tight and salty, very persistent and lemon-bitter Hallgarten with a straightforward character. The aftertaste is fresh, crisp and enormously saline. A fascinating pure Riesling indeed." - Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate (August 2022)
