James Halliday – Binder's malt chocolate tannins melt across this powerful wine's attack of dark fruit flavours and spice: plum, dark cherry, mace and five-spice spring to the nostrils. There is nothing whatsoever jammy about this, with the kinetic fruit held tightly to the plush breast of all American oak and impeccably drawn out grape tannins. The end result is one of power, intensity and yet, a lingering impression of savouriness.
James Halliday – Estate-grown, made at Yering Station, matured in French oak for 11 months. This is quite an entry point shiraz, the bouquet immediately grabbing attention with its black fruits, pepper, licorice, spice and cedary oak, every bit of which comes through in 3D on the medium-bodied palate. The line, length and balance are perfect.

James Halliday – A blend of three distinctive blocks on loams, silt and clay. No whole bunch. Gently extracted by wetting the cap and racking/returning. Circa 20 days on skins. 6 months in puncheons. 6 more in foudres and a concrete egg. A corpulent wine, lush and full. Yet there is nothing jammy about it. Eclipsed by its Bordeaux varietal siblings perhaps, but as far as warm-climate shiraz goes, this is at the apex of the qualitative totem pole. Blue fruits, violet, anise, clove and pepper grind. Some salumi, too. But the tannins are this gorgeous wine’s opus. - Ned Goodwin MW, James Halliday Wine Companion 2022, 13 August, 2021, 95 Points
or $84.14 in any mix of 12 bottles.
James Halliday – A single block of MV6, whole-berry ferment (no whole bunches), matured for 11 months in French puncheons (40% new). Very much in the style of the cool vintage; elegant, savoury and very long in the mouth. Wild strawberry/cherry fruit is dusted with spices, dried herbs and cedary oak. A strong sense of place.
or $68.86 in any mix of 12 bottles.
Wine Spectator – A harmonious Champagne, with a satiny mousse, this shows good length and focus to the rich notes of baked plum and apricot fruit, biscuit, smoke and lemon curd. A firm frame of well-cut acidity lends balance. (AN)
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – Exclusively made from Pinot Noir cultivated in Ambonnay, Aÿ, Verzy, Chigny-les-Roses and Tauxières, the intensely white-golden colored NV Grand Blanc de Noirs Extra-Brut is deep, intense and rich on the toasty and vinous nose. Full-bodied, round and pure, this is a generous, highly elegant, precise, finessed, fresh and stimulatingly salty cuvée with structure, grip and persistent vinous character. It has very nice reduction and piercing minerality. (SR)
Wine Enthusiast – Aged for at least 12 years after bottling, this Champagne is richly textured, showing mature fruitiness, touches of aging from the brioche flavors and an elegant, ripe aftertaste.
Decanter – The deep golden colour promises the richness that nose and palate duly deliver. The first sniff reveals rounded generosity reminiscent of shortbread, further swirling brings yellow apple with overtones of ripe apricot. That apple and apricot combo settles into a mid-palate mellowness, edged and enlivened by smooth bubbles that frame all this richness with their welcome freshness. Indeed, the wine works as an indulgent aperitif but comes into its own with food.
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – Based on the 2006 vintage and disgorged in December 2019, the inaugural release of Gosset's new NV Brut 12 Ans de Cave a Minima wafts from the glass with a lovely bouquet of candied peel, warm biscuits, yellow orchard fruit and brioche. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it's bright and incisive, with beautifully integrated acids, a delicate pinpoint mousse and a long, sapid finish. Gosset's racy style has really synergized with the ripe vintage and long sur lattes maturation to make for a very successful cuvée
