James Suckling – Slightly funky (from wild ferment) but also great citrus, pear and peach aromas. Good concentration for a village wine with quite a linear profile. Very clean finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.’ Stuart Pigott, September 2018.
James Suckling – “A great riesling Spätlese with an extremely wide spectrum of aromas from red apple to mandarin orange with a touch of exotic fruit and flowers. Super-racy acidity that gives this a diamond brightness that makes you glad to be alive. Very clean and precise finish. From organically grown grapes.” - Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com
James Suckling – “I love the mango creme-brulee character of this stunning dessert wine that doesn't fit in any of the conventional pigeon holes. Mind-boggling length and concentration at the finish, but still so vibrant that you might want to run for cover! From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. - Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – The 2021 Gimmeldinger Kapellenberg Riesling is very clear and precise on the nose, with intense and elegant fruit and green tea aromas and notes of crushed sandstones. On the palate, this is a generous, lush and salty-savory Riesling with a crunchy phenolic grip and stimulating finish. It is still very young but elegant and with a ripe and elegant Riesling fruit. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2022. - Stephan Reinhardt, Robert Parker Wine Advocate 2022

Nestled between the Haardt Mountains and the Rhine River, this wine-growing area extends northward from the French border. Notably, Pfalz lies parallel to the Alsace wine region in France, making them neighbors separated by the Rhine. The Pfalz's sunlit landscapes, rich history, and fertile soils have solidified its place as a prominent player in the world of German viticulture.

Pfalz is renowned primarily for its exceptional Rieslings. These wines, known for their aromatic complexity and refreshing acidity, beautifully express the terroir from which they hail. Pfalz Rieslings often possess notes of green apple, citrus, and stone fruits, underlined by a distinctive minerality. While Riesling may be the poster child for Pfalz, the region also produces noteworthy Pinot Noirs, Gewürztraminers, and other varietals, showcasing its versatility.
Determining the "best" wines is subjective, as it hinges on personal preferences. However, in terms of recognition and acclaim, Pfalz Rieslings consistently secure top spots in wine competitions and tastings globally. These wines are celebrated for their elegance, depth, and aromatic profiles. Additionally, Pfalz Pinot Noirs, with their fruity and earthy nuances, have garnered significant attention in recent years. Producers like Reichsrat von Buhl and Dr. Bürklin-Wolf have established themselves as standard-bearers in the region, but numerous boutique wineries also craft stellar wines worthy of exploration.
