Alto de la Ballena
In 2000 Paula Pivel and Alvaro Lorenzo turned their love of wine into a business and
life project. “Ballena”, Spanish for whale, pays homage to their place name and is referenced in their labels. The vineyard is run with the aim of producing high quality wine through low yields – between one and two kilos per plant – and practices such as deshooting, leaf removal, and cluster thinning.
