The Wine Front – Liquid cherry jam spiked with cinnamon, cumin spice. Spot on. Cool and refreshing red wine of perky acidity, amaro sweet-sour, pomegranate crunch to close. It’s vibrant, vital, light on, so smashable. It’s not cerebral, nor is it trying to be, it invites you in instead and says ‘lay on the couch with your shoes on’. Welcoming freshness in red wine. Hello summer.

James Halliday – There's a certain charm with Gerhard Pittnauer's St Laurent wines and he produces several off different sites, this planted on the Altenberg vineyard's slopes, opposite the Rosénberg. The fruit is just lovely, bound by savouriness though and an amazing aroma profile bordering on Middle Eastern and Asian spices. Sweet round tannins, textural, alluring, full-bodied, balanced with a minerally acid threat driving this to a persistent finish.

St Laurent is a grape variety that traces its origins to the wine-rich regions of Central Europe, most notably Austria. It's closely related to and often compared with the famous Pinot Noir. The grape takes its name from St. Lawrence's Day, as it typically starts to change color around the 10th of August, the feast day of the saint. Deep in color and medium-bodied, St Laurent wines have an aromatic profile that is truly captivating. On the palate, they often reveal notes of dark fruits, hints of tobacco, and sometimes even a touch of chocolate. What sets them apart is their refreshing acidity, which provides a wonderful balance to their inherent richness. The vines of St Laurent are known for their resilience. They thrive in diverse soil types and can withstand variations in temperature. This hardiness translates into wines that beautifully reflect the terroir they are grown in. Winemakers often employ traditional methods, aging the wine in oak barrels, which impart additional layers of flavor and complexity. As St Laurent gains international recognition, wine lovers are increasingly drawn to its elegant profile and its capacity to age gracefully. With its unique character and versatility, St Laurent has indeed carved out a niche for itself in the hearts of connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike.
St Laurent wine, often compared to the iconic Pinot Noir, is a red wine variety with deep roots in Central Europe, particularly Austria. Its origins remain a topic of debate, but its presence in the region's vineyards is undeniably historic. This elegant red wine is characterized by its medium to deep ruby color and offers a compelling bouquet of dark cherries, plums, and sometimes even hints of chocolate. Its silky tannins and fresh acidity make it not only a pleasure to drink but also incredibly versatile in terms of food pairings. As wine enthusiasts continue their perpetual quest for unique tastes and flavors, St Laurent has gradually risen in popularity, cementing its place as a must-try for those seeking to diversify their wine repertoire.
St Laurent wines, with their lush fruit profiles and balanced acidity, are exceptionally food-friendly. For starters, traditional Austrian dishes like Wiener Schnitzel or beef goulash harmonize wonderfully with St Laurent's dark fruit undertones. Game meats such as duck, venison, or pheasant bring out the wine's earthy qualities. For those who lean towards vegetarian dishes, mushroom risotto or roasted beet salads with goat cheese complement the wine's complexity. Moreover, its versatility also extends to a variety of cheeses, from the mild Camembert to the more robust blue cheeses. So, whether you're planning a hearty dinner or a light snack, St Laurent wine can elevate your culinary experience.
