Read about Hungary
While the exact details of who planted the first vines in Hungary are a bit cloudy, it is thought the Romans had a hand in the formation of the Hungarian wine industry back when the country was known as Pannonia, and by the 5th century the countries vineyards were well established. The country has 22 different wine regions and among the most important are Tokaj, Kunság, Csongrád, Hajós-Baja, Eger, Villány and Szeksárd. It is most famous for the unctuous sweet wines of Tokaji and the Bulls Blood of Eger but today many international varieties are planted along with the grapes that have made the
region famous - Furmint, Hársevelü, Kékfrakos, Yellow Muscat and Kékoportó.
