Critic reviews

James Suckling – A fresh and off-dry Champagne with round and easy texture and an easy finish. Medium body. Creamy. Cooked apples and pears. Some candied apple, too. Flavorful finish. 2 September 2020

About this Wine

Best non-vintage Champagnes
94 POINTS - Peter Ranscombe
"Taittinger adds twice the dosage of its Brut Réserve to create Nocturne, which includes grapes from more than 30 crus. Its sweet nose is full of baked apple, brown sugar and pastry cream, yet its lively mousse and green-apple-centred acidity stops it becoming too heavy." 15 December 2021

92 POINTS - The Real Review, Huon Hooke
"Medium to full straw colour. The bouquet is elusive but Champagne-like, with iced-pastry nuances, nutty, toasty and showing some age development. There's evidence of some reserve wine in the aged characters. It's only barely off-dry: nothing like a traditional demi-sec style, which is a plus, in my opinion. A quite different, but very attractive, style of Champagne. Despite the dosage it has good balance and tastes drier than some houses' regular NV Champagnes. (40% chardonnay; 60% pinots. 17.5 g/l dosage). 4 January 2015."

This wonderful Champagne Cuvée Nocturne Sec from Champagne Taittinger is vinified from the classic Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grape varieties. A clear yellow gold shimmers in this wine in the glass. The continuous perlage dances in fine beaded strings to the surface and forms a delicate mousseux. The wonderfully elegant bouquet pampers the nose with delicate aromas of freshly baked biscuits, candied nuts, yeast braid and dried apricots as well as subtle nuances of peach. On the palate, too, this champagne impresses with its elegance: the acidity is wonderfully lively and refreshing and presents the perfect, harmonious contrast to nutty roasted aromas as well as notes of candied fruits of smooth texture. The finale comes with a pleasant length and a noticeable, filigree residual sweetness.
