About This Wine
Drawn from 20+ year old vineyards in Cheverny (in the north-eastern Touraine), Emmanuel and Thierry Delaille's 'Unique' Sauvignon is an outstanding value Loire Valley example of this grape. 2017 was something of a double-edged sword for a swathe of Loire Valley growers. On the one hand, bouts of devastating frost and hail dramatically reduced yields. On the other, what fruit was harvested has been used to craft impressively intense wines characterised by the mouthwatering tension between concentrated silky fruit and strong, ripe acidity.
Vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel cuves and raised for nine months on lees, the wine's attack is bright-eyed and racy with lovely, citrusy flavours woven throughout the wine's pulpy, limpid texture before a bright, snappy-crisp finish. It's all enough to restore your faith in 'value spectrum' Sauvignon Blanc.
