The grapes are picked from the three Verduno fields Sotto Orti, Campasso and Neirane, which together make up a mere 1 hectare. A year is spent in one large, middle-aged Slavonian oak cask and one French ditto: enough to hold the year's production.
The duration of the maceration of just over a week is somewhat shorter than the house's Barolo wines, which gives less structure and aging potential, but at the same time more juiciness and youthful drinking pleasure.
Smell and taste are a harmonious and life-affirming conglomerate of healthy, ethereal Nebbiolo and rigorous fruitiness. The taster is offered a concoction of dried flowers, cherries, plums and roses with the impossible combination of lightness and intensity. The taste is focused and welcoming with a full, intense mouthfeel and a rounded tannic bite. The wine is dry without being drying, so you can enjoy it without food if you are a Nebbiolo enthusiast. Otherwise, it is an excellent food wine for stews and meat with a roasting surface.
We recommend a serving temperature of 15-17° and a good, spacious 'burgundy glass' with plenty of time added.
If properly stored, Fratelli Alessandria Langhe Nebbiolo Prinsiòt will last for the next 6-10 years, possibly longer.
