Beautifully fragrant and perfumed, with violets, red berry fruits and loads of spice. The palate is wonderfully poised and vibrant, concentrated and detailed, with the silkiest texture and length. Classic F block, powerful but a silky and fine, long finish.

The Wine Front – The flavour and the tannin here are both convincing but I’m not sure that the acidity is; every time I looked at this wine the acidity seemed to dangle. Everything else is in high working order. Plum, anise and dried herb flavours are swept up in swish, cedarwood oak, and the wine’s charcuterie-like notes are woven intricately and well. The same too can be said of the tannin; it feels so fine-grained that if you dipped a needle in I suspect that it would play music. If the acidity settles and integrates then we’ll have a beautiful wine on our hands. 20 July 2021
James Halliday – The critical decision by winemaker Tom Carson was to pick early from the low-yielding, warm north-west facing block. The result is a long, medium-bodied wine that has hallmark Heathcote richness of supple dark fruits married with the vibrant freshness ex the 13% alcohol. 21 November 2021
