Description
This Bourgogne rouge comes from a vineyard named 'Longbois' at the foot of the hillside in the commune of Volnay, just below the village level Cros Martin vineyard, and downslope from 1er Cru vineyards, Les Lurets and Cailleret. On average, the vines are 40 years old. It's a very well situated site and enjoyed favourable conditions in the warm 2019 vintage. For its modest price, it captures all that is great about Burgundy, lifted perfume, silky tannins and a fresh finish that just leaves you wanting more. This ripper of a wine punches well above its weight and could easily be mistaken for a village-level wine, selling for twice the price.
