Critic reviews

James Suckling – The 2021 vintage started with just a little rain in winter and spring, followed by a moderate summer and cooler fall. The absence of heat spikes and moisture as the clusters finished ripening meant we could pick exactly when we felt the fruit was at its peak. This gentle growing season yielded vivid, fresh character. The Cabernet Sauvignon opens with violet and ripe blueberry then deepens into a killer midpalate. Minerality and touches of graphite and herbs bring strength and complexity to this beauty. Blend: 93.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot, 1% Malbec, 0.5% Petit Verdot

Mt. Brave Vineyard sits high atop Mt. Veeder at an elevation of 1,400 to 1,800 feet. Mt. Veeder has been planted with winegrapes since the early 1860s by winemaking pioneers such as Charles Krug, Agoston Haraszthy, Frederick Hess and William S. Keyes. Wines from Mt. Veeder achieved recognition as early as the Paris Exposition of 1900. The parcel that became the Mt. Brave Vineyard, in the northern reaches of the Mt. Veeder American Viticultural Area, was originally purchased in 1841 before the Gold Rush and the Civil War.

Wines from Napa Valley

One of the world's most highly regarded regions for wine production as well as tourism. The Napa Valley started to bring worldwide recognition to California’s winemaking abilities after finding success in the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976. Both a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were submitted which bested several famous French labels in a blind tasting. These results cemented Napa’s reputation for being able to produce wines equal to that in quality of the very best from the Old World.

In red wines, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley today, covering half the land and commanding the highest prices per ton. Straight Napa Cabernet is one of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, a marvellous addition to any wine collection or cellar. With such high-quality Cabernet production, many winemakers also focus on creating fine Bordeaux blends. Other notable red wine varietals produced in the Napa include: Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet Franc.

The most prominent whites from the Napa are Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
