Shaw + Smith is an Adelaide Hills grape grower and winemaker committed to making exciting and refined cool climate wines, focusing initially on benchmark Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, and more recently on Shiraz and Pinot Noir. Shaw + Smith began in 1989 when cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith realised a long held dream to make wine together.
Growing the best possible grapes, managing vineyards sustainably, and valuing vine health, soil health, and low yields are central to the Shaw + Smith approach. Reflecting an uncompromising pursuit of quality, all grapes continue to be hand-picked, and fermented, aged and bottled on site at Balhannah. The wines are vibrant, medium bodied expressions of their varieties that seek to reflect their site and region.
