Cullen Diana Madeline 2018-Current Promotions-World Wine
Cullen Diana Madeline 2018

World Wine – I've been waiting for this wine to be released, knowing how good the 2018 vintage was in Margaret River. In fact, it goes further than my lofty expectations. Super-concentrated deep blackcurrant, mulberry and dark, plummy, chocolate flavours. There is an extraordinary brightness and vitality on the nose with exotic violet perfumes. Impeccably poised. A wine that will drink well into the second half of this century. - Ray Jordan, The West Australian

James Suckling – The 2018 Diana Madeline (99 points) is one of the stars of this report and one the greatest editions of this wine yet released. Cullen herself likens it to the legendary 2001 vintage, a wine that is defined by both power and finesse. Both are certainly hallmark traits of this stunning 2018 which stands as a shining example of refinement in Margaret River. This is a superb edition of this revered, cabernet-based blend with such complete, seamless and elegant feel, yet there’s such depth of flavor, too. Aromas of fresh redcurrants, red and violet flowers, subtle spice, fresh earth, paper bark, fresh-picked thyme and sage, red berries and some cedary notes. The palate is stunning and has a brand of elegance with power that is found in only the greatest wines. Pristine mulberries, red plums, blueberries and red cherries sail through layers of fine tannin, into an unwaveringly long and vibrant finish. An exceptionally concentrated and convincing Diana Madeline release, this is one of their finest. A blend of 79% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 6% cabernet franc and 5% malbec. Delicious now, but his will bloom from 2028. - Nick Stock,

Huon Hooke – Deep, bright, youthful, concentrated purple/red colour which stains the glass. The aroma is fresh and young, fruit-driven and impressively concentrated; essency, with masses of blueberry, cassis, violet and blackberry flavours, underlined by a firm tannin backbone. There is cedar aplenty and loads of cabernet character. The tannins are very firm and it needs more time to mellow. The concentration has ramped up to a new level here. A high-quality wine of enormous potential. (79% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 6% cabernet franc, 5% malbec, aged in 50% new oak). - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

Bekkers Syrah 2018-Red Wine-World Wine
Bekkers Syrah 2018

James Halliday – Hand-picked, the vinification very gentle to avoid extraction of aggressive tannins, matured in French puncheons (58% new) on lees with minimal additions until Dec '19. A truly great McLaren Vale syrah, as smooth as velvet, yet with layer upon layer of purple and black fruits that are hypnotic in their perfection. - James Halliday

Huon Hooke – "Deep, brooding red/purple colour, with a blackberry fruit aroma that is ripe and concentrated. The wine is full-bodied, fleshy and smooth, with savoury qualities and quite chewy tannins to conclude. There is density, depth and weight, and the wine has a lasting intensity through a very long aftertaste. Deep-set blackberry, cranberry, black cherry and dark plum flavours, with an earthy bass note. Delicious and long-term." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2018-Current Promotions-World Wine
Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2018

World Wine – "Let’s put it this way. This is the closest I have come to awarding a wine 100 points…Stellar wine from a stellar vintage. The remarkable this is that this is a wine 100 percent barrel fermented in new French oak barriques with regular lees stirring for 11 months – and it certainly doesn’t taste excessive, or even slightly oak. It has such high-fidelity purity with complex seductive aromatics of vanilla bean and light oatmeal with a cutting minerality and spicy lift. But the palate, oh the palate. This is where things start to explode. Power, poise and persistence with a dry savouriness balancing the intense ripe fruit. It is such a long finish with an ever so slightly, charry finish completing a remarkable wine." - Ray Jordan (The West Australian)

Cullen Diana Madeline 2019

The Wine Front – "Incredible power and concentration here, and yet, still lithe and so finely wrought. It’s ultra-mineral in feel with iron and dense graphite tannin, but perfumed and spice-laden too. The quality and feel of tannin here is something quite extraordinary. Plum and dark cherry, dark tobacco, whiff of empty chocolate box, superb length of flavour. Essence of Cabernet. Essential Cabernet. We’ve never had it so good.” - Gary Walsh - 98pts

Te Mata Estate Coleraine 2018-Red Wine-World Wine
Te Mata Estate Coleraine 2018

World Wine – Bright, youthful blended red of cabernet sauvignon (52%), merlot (33%) and cabernet franc (15%). This is classic Coleraine with cassis, cedar, floral, blueberry, a suggestion of wood-smoke, anise and spicy oak flavours. Terrific depth and an exquisite balance between fruit sweetness and acid/tannin structure. It will be a long-distance runner. Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, 14 March, 2020

Huon Hooke – Very deep, concentrated, bright purple/red colour. The bouquet is exquisite with a multitude of black fruits, blueberry, cassis, violet and cedar aromas, and much more besides. The detail is outstanding, as is the intensity of the palate. It’s very concentrated and powerful, firmly-structured and has tremendous persistence. The tannins are firm and abundant and will help guarantee a long life, but they are ripe and accessible and the wine is already approachable. (52% cabernet sauvignon, 33% merlot, 15% cabernet franc). The Real Review, 7 February, 2020

James Suckling – "This has an assertive, red-cherry and blackberry nose with crushed stones, graphite and abundant fragrant spices, buried deep in black fruit. The palate has dense tannins and very intense, concentrated, blackberry and blood-plum flavours. Chiseled, compressed, velvety and powerful. Needs three to four years." - 98 Points, Nick Stock (James

Hay Shed Hill Block 2 Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

James Halliday – Sourced from 48yo vines on the 2.2ha Block 2 on the Hay Shed Hill property in Wilyabrup. Matured 18 months in French oak barriques. The nose presents a classical combination of black pepper, plum, raspberry, cassis and mulberry, backed by spiced oak. The palate follows suit and is further ameliorated by the presence of finely grippy tannins which caress the fruit through the lingering finish.
