James Halliday – Pinot noir from jurassic dolerite and basalt soils in the foothills of the Meehan Ranges; some whole bunch. Mid-ruby with aromas of red cherry, red plum and a touch of boysenberry and darker-toned fruit. A deeper array of spice here, a little more oak noticeable along with crushed volcanic rocks, charcuterie, pressed flowers, pomegranate and earth. Weightier and sporting more concentration than the estate wine, tannins toothsome and flavour long. – Dave Brookes
