Description
Follow the Coal River just 3 km north from the picturesque sandstone village of Richmond in southern Tasmania and you come to Storm Bay Vineyards where the ancient tertiary clays and limestone coupled with long, slow ripening produce wines with finesse and elegance perfectly representative of Tasmania’s cool maritime climate.
This ruby red pinot has delightful aromas of currants, red berries and spice. On the palate, ripe fruit and lingering spice flavours along with savoury tannins give this wine great length. Due to the vibrant fruit and natural acidity this will cellar well for the next 2-3 years.

Tasmanian Wine
The Tasmanian wine region is a cool climate region, the most southerly of all wine regions in Australia. Due to the lower temperatures, the area grows primarily Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, with smaller plantings of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon.

While Tasmania makes great still wines, the exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir also make for excellent sparkling wines.
More recent vintages since 2005 have been positively impacted by the effects of global warming. With slightly higher temperatures the grapes are ensured to ripen fully and produce more vibrant wine.
