Description
Aged in a combination of new and two year old French oak barrels. Opaque dark red black tinged core with a very dark red hue. Spicy dark cherry aromas intermix with earthy graphite and black olive scents followed by hints of anise, smoked meats and dried herbs. Rich and weighty with a sense of opulence, the palate is flooded with ripe black cherry and anise like flavours which carry great power. Smoky cedar, dried meat and spicy dried herb characters ensue. A velvety feel backed by a robust tannin structure which leads into a long toasty and slightly chewy aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Tasmanian Wine
The Tasmanian wine region is a cool climate region, the most southerly of all wine regions in Australia. Due to the lower temperatures, the area grows primarily Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, with smaller plantings of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon.

While Tasmania makes great still wines, the exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir also make for excellent sparkling wines.
More recent vintages since 2005 have been positively impacted by the effects of global warming. With slightly higher temperatures the grapes are ensured to ripen fully and produce more vibrant wine.
